Emerging countries jump directly into the cloud
A study by the Business Software Alliance (BSA) revealed that cloud solutions are used much more frequently in emerging markets such as Thailand, Malaysia or Argentina than, for example, in Germany.
The Business Software Alliance, BSA for short, has published a study on the usage behavior of free and paid cloud offers. According to this study, which was attended by 15,000 computer users in spring 2012, only 33 percent of computer users in Germany use cloud services. In emerging countries such as Thailand, Malaysia or Argentina, there are already 50 percent.
Worldwide, 33% of cloud users also use paid services for business purposes. According to the BSA study, mail services are most frequently used. Overall, 78 percent of all cloud users rely on this service.
A good 45 percent use word processing services in the cloud and 40 percent are targeting image services.
The jump to the cloud
The BSA study seems to show that emerging economies rely on the most up-to-date technology without going through the intervening steps or looking at legacy systems.
Robert Holleyman, BSA President and CEO: "In addition to the powerful software packages that can be installed on a PC, the global software and computer market offers a wide range of online tools. So it's not surprising that emerging market users are choosing online services that are quick and easy to deploy. "
Worldwide, 45 percent of all computer users use cloud services. 88 percent of respondents said they use cloud services for private purposes. 33 percent of cloud users also use them in business. Emerging markets and established markets differ in terms of the services they offer: emerging markets are clearly ahead in both word processing and online games.
